We dedicate this page to LEE JONG YONG from South Korea who proposed a new option to climb Menthok Kangri with trekking over Parang La in 2015. Generally people hit Rupshu Valley or Karzok Village which is the nearest point of Menthok Kangri Base from Leh side but with this Korean group of 11 members we made a new experiment that remained very successful and rewarding. Parang La is one of the most popular trekking routes of world according to Lonely Planet and through this option we offer the climbers a new outlook.

In Buddhist language Menthok means flower, Menthok Kangri lies in the Rupshu plateau which is inhabited by the famous Changpa nomads; from the peak we get an eagle’s view to Tsemoriri Lake and several other peaks. Menthok Kangri has 3 summit points, conveniently named as Menthok 1, 2 and 3 with heights varying between 6100 to 6250 meters. Menthok 1 at an altitude of 6250 meter is a challenging climb which is generally opted by the adventure
